11 Techniques I Use to Care for My Hair

Ever since I came back from my recent oversea trip, I have often had bad hair days. At first I thought it was due to lack of sleep and poor diet. But after talking to a close friend of mine who is a hair treatment specialist, I begin to understand the right techniques to care for my hair.

Below is a list which I have compiled from talking to my friend in addition to whatever research I can find online. I hope these info would useful to you too.

Avoid the Scalp

When you are using products for your hair make sure that you apply them directly to the hair and not on the scalp. This is important because adding hair products to your scalp can clog the pores of your head, which could lead to hair damage and/or loss of hair.

The Next Time You Go Swimming

If you are going to be swimming in a pool you should wet your hair before hand so that your hair is mostly soaking up the water you put in it and not the chlorinated water. Chlorinated water is not good for your hair, especially if it is color treated.

If you enjoy swimming in pools during the spring and summer, take time to protect your hair before hitting the water. Either soak your hair in regular water to discourage the absorption of chlorinated water, or wear a bathing cap to avoid drying out your delicate tresses. Your hair will thank you for it.

Use the Right Hair Brush

When choosing a brush to use on your hair, choose one with soft bristles, instead of hard ones. There are brushes available that are made of animal fibers or soft bristles that will be easier on your hair and not cause any type of damage to your beautiful hair!

Improve Your Diet and Lifestyle

If you are plagued by hair problems, your diet might be the source of these issues. A well-balanced diet containing high-quality protein, B-12 and iron are important for healthy hair. Consider a multivitamin if you can not ingest enough of these vital nutrients into your daily diet.

In order to have good hair you should live a healthy lifestyle. Too much stress, smoking, non nutritious foods and lack of exercise all contribute to the damaging of your hair. So, to help you maintain good quality care and be able to manage it properly, avoid living an unhealthy lifestyle, instead choose to live healthy!

Try to cut out the fats and oils from your diet, or limit them significantly. Foods that have a lot of fat can reduce your body's functionality, which impacts your hair and scalp. Stick to a diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables and stay away from candy and junk food.

Home Remedies

Many at-home remedies can solve oily hair problems. Common household products, such as lemon juice, can get rid of the extra oil. As an extra bonus they give the hair a shiny look! It will also save you money, since you won't have to buy those expensive $10 bottles of conditioner. Try using items from your kitchen.

There is a great homemade remedy that can help to keep hair soft and shiny. With only a single ingredient, this trick is as simple as it is effective. Try massaging about a half of an egg white onto your hair and scalp and leave it on for five minutes. Rinse it with shampoo and you will have great looking hair.

Choosing the Right Hair Product

When choosing your hair products, look for products with no alcohol. Applying alcohol on your hair will make it very dry and fragile. If you still want to use products containing alcohol, avoid using these products on a daily basis and wash your hair thoroughly afterward, so that the product is rinsed out.

Look for haircare products that have a sunscreen ingredient. The sun can really damage your hair, negating anything you have done to help maintain it. By taking additional measures to protect your hair, you ensure that it looks and feels great and retains its color.

It is okay to use styling products on your hair as long as you refrain from using them every day of the week. Use then every so often and make sure that they do not contain alcohol, which will only serve to damage hair and make it dry and brittle.

Never Use Hot Water on Your Hair

It is important that you never use hot water to wash your hair. The only thing this is going to do is dry your hair out and when using hot water frequently, it could even cause irreparable damage to it. It is recommended that you use lukewarm water when washing your hair.

Pillowcase

Protect your curls with a satin pillowcase as opposed to a regular cotton one. Ordinary cotton pillowcases have a tendency to leach the oil and moisture out of your hair. Satin pillowcases protect your hair and allows you to wake with beautiful curls. A bonnet or scarf that is satin is also something you can use.

Be Gentle With your Hair

Do not roughly dry the hair with a towel. Using a heavy hand can promote breakage of the hair. Rather, squeeze your hair to remove excess moisture. Then gently pat your hair dry with a towel. Be sure to use a softer towel that is gentler on your hair.

Avoid the Sun

Like your skin, your hair should be protected against damage from sun exposure. When you're outside, you should use protective sprays and a hat that keeps hair safe from the wind or the sun. Your scalp can burn easily, so the protection is an added benefit. If your hair is color-treated it is vitally important to wear a hat when outdoors. The sun quickly fades color from your hair.

Don't Wash it Daily

Wash your hair when it seems dirty. Some folks insist on washing their hair daily. This could cause more damage than it will help. It could cause your hair and scalp to dry out. Typically, a person's hair only needs to be washed about two or three times a week.

Important Things to Know

Make sure your hair is thoroughly wet before you apply shampoo and begin washing it. If you start to scrub your hair and scalp without getting it wet enough first, you are much more likely to have strands of your hair break off in your hands. When the hair is wet, it is more pliable and will resist breakage better.

Don't use your bristle hairbrush on wet hair. Always use a comb or pick on your beautiful wet tresses. A hairbrush encourages breakage and split ends. Just lightly towel dry your hair and remove tangles by gently combing through your hair with a wide-toothed comb, or even your fingers. Allow to air dry whenever possible to minimize heat damage.

If you can, avoid using the blow dryer to dry your hair. The best way to dry your hair is to allow it to air dry naturally. If you must use your blow dryer, be sure to only use it on its coolest setting possible. Do not keep it in the same area of hair for more than a few seconds. Keep it moving as much as possible.

To improve the quality of air in your home, use a humidifier. This device can help to make the air in your home or apartment comfortable, while also restoring moisture to your hair. Keeping your hair moist is very important as you do not want it to dry out during the day.

If you can, try not to blow dry your hair too often and do not color your hair frequently. Both of these can cause your hair to dry out, damaging it in the process. If these products have already dried your hair out, you can use coconut oil twice a week to add moisture.

Damaged hair are mostly UN-repairable and I hope the above tips and techniques are useful in helping you maintain your hair for a long time to come.

I Overcame Insomnia Using These 10 Methods

I never fail to have insomnia whenever I am stressed up - over work, family, financial matters and so on.

And I have been living with it until few weeks ago when I decided it is about time I get it of it once and for all. After spending a few days collating some research online and after talking to my family doctor about it, I have come out with a list of methods which have proven to be effective - at least for me.

If you are suffering from insomnia just like me, feel free to try out some of the methods below and I sincerely hope they will be of some use to some of my blog readers.

Get a New Mattress

If you have trouble with insomnia for any length of time, consider getting a new mattress. Look for one that is firm without being hard, as these are the most conducive to sleep, and provide you with the most support. Mattresses are the cause of insomnia in many cases, but people just don't realize it!

Check your mattress often for signs of wear and tear. If you're not comfortable, it may need to be replaced. Buy new pillows and bed linen whenever necessary. Avoid allergens when choosing bedding. Although feather pillows might be more comfortable, they are a waste of money if you're allergic to them.

Melatonin Works Wonder for Me

Taking Melatonin may help you get you back to sleep. Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that is available in a supplement form. This hormone helps regulate the human sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm), causes drowsiness and lowers body temperature. Man-made Melatonin supplements are available at many health food and drug stores.

Melatonin is a great supplement for those who deal with insomnia. Studies show that older people who have trouble sleeping are low in melatonin, so replacing it with a supplement can really help. 1 to 3 mg taken 90-120 minutes before bed can do the trick, but talk to your doctor about dosage.

Exercise Helps

Get enough exercise. Exercise can help you cut stress by releasing endorphins into your system. That can help you sleep more deeply at night. However, avoid exercise within 3 or 4 hours before bed, because endorphins can keep you awake if you exercise too close to your bedtime. Give it time.

Looking into Your Daily Lifestyle Habits

In some instances, insomnia is caused by underlying mental and physical issues; however, many instances of insomnia are caused by daily habits. Maybe your Starbucks habit is contributing to your sleepless nights. Caffeinated beverages are stimulants, so they can make falling to sleep more difficult. By adopting the habit of not drinking any caffeinated beverage six hours before bedtime, you are taking the first step towards a better night's rest.

Do you nap daily? Stop napping. Daily naps cause you to not be as tired at night. If you really feel you must nap occasionally, lie down before 3pm and then sleep for only 20 minutes.

Yes, drinking can make you feel sleepy and even knock you out, but when you wake up at 3am with a massive headache, you still won't get a good night's sleep. Avoid drinking if you have sleep issues as it can cause insomnia, frequent bathroom trips and a horrible hangover.

Everyone knows how unhealthy smoking is, but not everyone realizes how it can interfere with falling asleep. Smoking is like a body stimulant, and it boosts your heart rate. There are numerous excellent reasons to quit smoking. Better sleep and going to sleep more easily is a benefit that is added.

Check for Underlying Medical Conditions

Trouble sleeping is sometimes caused by an underlying medical condition. Sleep studies help people with insomnia and frequent daytime exhaustion determine the root of the problem. People with sleep apnea wake up multiple times during the night and never really feel rested. There are also people who physically act out because of their dreams.

Does laying down in bed make your nostrils get runny or clogged? If so, locate the source of this annoyance. This allergy might be solved quickly with an antihistamine, which of course also can help you sleep. Allergies can also be eliminated by getting new pillows.

Learn Meditation

Learning meditation techniques can be the key to you falling asleep. Consider picking up a book, checking out how-to videos online or even taking a class locally to learn how to do it right. When you know the method which works best for you, you'll fall asleep in a snap.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can be a fantastic thing that can help you to relax yourself before you go to bed. Quickly feel a sense of calm and drowsiness with the lovely scent of lavender. Set a sachet filled with the lavender scent in your night stand or under your pillow.

Get a Pair of Earplugs

Try using earplugs. It's often the sounds around the home or outside that are causing insomnia. So the best thing that you can do is stop yourself from hearing them. You can't stop traffic or birds, but you can block your ear canals with plugs. It may be just the silence you need.

Keep the Bedroom Cool

Keep your bedroom at a cool temperature to give yourself the best chance for restful sleep. A drop in body temperature is an evolutionary signal for you to go to sleep. Try a warm bath before you turn in as well. The temperature of your room should be about 65-70 degrees for optimal rest.

Open a window. Air that's fresh can generally help you get good sleep. If have an open window and the outside temperature is around 60 F, then you are in the perfect sleeping temperature range. Keep extra blankets at the foot of your bed if you start to feel cold.

Develop a Regular Sleep Routine

A regular bedtime routine is important to help you sleep without suffering from insomnia and it is important that you develop your own. Listen to relaxing music, practice breathing exercises or even treat yourself to a nice, warm bath. If you incorporate these changes in your lifestyle, you will have little trouble sleeping at night.

Most of the above-mentioned methods should effectively help with insomnia. If none of the methods listed above helps, you may be need to seek medical attention and I would strongly suggest that you schedule an appointment with your doctor - he or she may be able to diagnose your condition at a deeper level and find out the underlying cause of your insomnia.

11 Things to Know About Acupuncture Before Signing Up for One

Due to a punishing work hours in the office clearing backlogs that managed to pile up higher than that of Himalayas after a short 10 days trip, an old friend of mine (backache) came to visit once again.

Backache has been a common thing for me ever since I hurt my spine during my younger days. This time round it became so bad that I had to relent and try out the only one treatment that I have NOT tried so far - Acupuncture.

Although it was highly recommended by my friends, I have not had the courage to let needles poked all over my body. In case you have totally no idea what I am talking about - Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice where needles are inserted across many specific points on the body depending on what ailment or pain you have. The needles treatment helps manipulate the flow of energy within our body.

After my 3rd treatment, my backache's almost gone and having done some research on this special Chinese treatment, below are a list of things you should know before you try out Acupuncture.

Schedule a Consultation Session First

As you would with many other services, schedule a consultation with any prospective acupuncturists. These generally last 10-15 minutes, but they can give you an idea of whether or not they are right for you. Ask them any questions that you have, talk about their experience and education, express any concerns, and pay attention to how they make you feel in their office. If you ever feel uncomfortable, try someone else.

Talk to the acupuncturist you wish to use about whether or not they can help you. For example, a chiropractor can only do treatments which compliment their chiropractic treatments. Some acupuncturists only work with women, or only on urinary problems. Find a practitioner who specializes in whatever it is which ails you.

Always consider your comfort level when you meet an acupuncturist. Are you going to be comfortable with this person when you are laying on a table without clothes? Will you feel okay when he is putting needles in various parts of your body? Do you trust him? If you answered no, it is time to look elsewhere for a different practitioner.

If you have some fear of acupuncture because you think that it is going to hurt, ask your acupuncturist about techniques in painless needling. Ask questions about where he learned that technique and how long he has been practicing it. Only go with practitioners who have had multiple years of experience.

If you have a hard time moving about, find out if you can have acupuncture done at home. A lot of acupuncturists will travel to the home for clients with mobility concerns. He may charge you a little extra for gas and travel time, but at least you can have your treatment in the comfort of your own home.

Healthy Diet

When it comes to eating after having acupuncture done, make sure you eat healthy food. Eating a lot of unhealthy food after your session is just putting back the toxins that the acupuncture released. Try sticking with healthy and fresh vegetables, fruits, meats and other foods that are nourishing and good for you.

When you undergo acupuncture treatments, try to make other healthy changes in your life too. While acupuncture can help with many things, it is not a magic bullet that provides instant relief and a life free from pain. To achieve that, you have to work with your body to make it healthier. Diet, exercise and supplements all come into play if you are hoping for optimum results.

Painless Treatment

One very positive aspect of this type of alternative treatment is the lack of any side effects. Even though very fine needles are inserted into the flesh at specific points, most people do not feel any pain at all from the procedure.

Insurance Coverage

Look into your insurance coverage before choosing acupuncture. While more and more insurance plans are covering alternative medicine and methodologies, not all do. It's important for you to know what to expect financially so that you don't have a sticker shock after your initial treatment. Look at your plan, or call your insurance company if you're still unsure.

Determine if and how your insurance plan covers acupuncture. Some plans cover acupuncture only if you are referred by your regular practitioner for a medical condition. Other plans cover acupuncture visits as wellness visits. Find out if your health insurance covers acupuncture so you can save some cash on the procedure.

Check that your practitioner accepts your insurance, and be sure that acupuncture is covered by your health insurance. By determining insurance coverage in advance, you will have the ability to concentrate just on treatment once your sessions start. This will help you relax and allow the treatments to be more effective.

Be Well Hydrated

You should drink plenty of water before you attend your scheduled acupuncture session. It has been shown that people who are well hydrated respond better to treatments. While you should not consume a lot of food before a session, it is a great idea for you to drink a good amount of water.

Do Your Due Diligence

Do some research about the different kinds of acupuncture before you begin looking for an acupuncture practitioner. American acupuncturists can practice based on traditions from Korea, China or Japan. Always ask about your practitioner's training and exactly what kind of procedures they use. It is also helpful to find out if one branch of acupuncture is more effective than another for your particular condition.

What to Avoid Prior to Treatment

You shouldn't have anything alcoholic to drink before treatment. In addition to pain relief, acupuncture can help you think more clearly. The use of alcohol, tobacco or caffeine can make treatment more difficult and less effective. If you have a hangover, you may just want to reschedule the session so that you do not miss out on all of the benefits.

Avoid over-eating right before your acupuncture appointment. Although you should not go on an empty stomach, as this can lead to feeling dizzy, you can't be too full either. Call and ask for guidance with the receptionist if you're not sure, but don't take any chances by indulging in a big meal a few hours prior to going.

Exercise Common Sense

Be skeptical of any acupuncturist who says that they will cure you of a serious medical condition like cancer. There is no question that acupuncture is effective for many things, but it should not replace conventional treatments for diseases like cancer. While acupuncture may help you relax naturally or relieve certain minor issues, it's crucial that you continue seeing your regular doctor for any serious ailments.

Experience and Credentials Counts

It's fantastic to have an acupuncturist who has experience. Years of training means they have more knowledge on how to do their job well. However, you should be aware that not all countries have the same regulations. Experience in a country like China is not the same as experience in the United States.

Ask your acupuncturist about their education. Acupuncturists need to go to medical school for four years before completing an internship. The internship should last at least eighteen months. If your acupuncturist cannot prove they have this kind of educational background, you should find another specialized doctor who can treat you.

When you're looking for an acupuncturist, make sure they're NCCAOM certified. To get NCCAOM certification, a practitioner must receive a significant amount of training and pass a national exam. When you're letting someone stick needles into your body, you want to be sure that they're an expert on what they're doing.

Do Not Expect Immediate Results

Keep in mind that it may take some time for you to feel the full benefits from your acupuncture treatments. It may take more than one or two visits to find relief from pain or improvement in your conditions. Make sure you are ready to commit to the full program recommended.

Don't rule acupunture out if you don't feel a big difference after your first session. It can take time to really see the results of acupuncture, especially if your body is full of toxins. Commit to at least three sessions, and decide after that whether or not your treatments are working for you.

Post Treatment Tips

Some people get light headed after a treatment, although not many. Make sure you get up from the table slowly, and always have a snack before you head in for your appointment. If you notice any light headedness, don't rush to get out of the building. Sit down for a while to see if you feel better.

If you experience any discomfort following an acupuncture treatment, call your practitioner and ask questions. While the discomfort might be completely normal, it will put your mind at ease to get your questions answered. Putting your mind at ease will enhance your healing process and make you more inclined to return for future sessions.

Understand that you may have muscle twitching following acupuncture. This is nothing to be alarmed about. However, if you have a spasm, you need to inform the acupuncturist of your symptoms. If you haven't left the office yet, he or she may be able to do something to help you.

If you are currently struggling with pain and aches and have exhausted all treatment options, Acupuncture may be able to help you out. Remember to schedule a consultation first to find out if it is really for you before you sign up for any treatment package.

17 Tips to Help Grow Your Business via Social Media Marketing

Since part of my job has to do with marketing, an old colleague of mine called me up and asked if I could in any way help him with his personal blog.

His blog has been around for years and yet there is only a pathetic bit of traffic to his site every month. He told me he loves writing reviews about the many different books he read on a weekly basis and he would love to share his reviews with like-minded people.

I told him he could try make use of social media to help him. The next day, after some research, I compiled and sent him a list of social media marketing tips and strategies that he can do to actively promote his blog.

I hope the list of tips below is out some help to you too if you are somewhat in the same shoe as my ex-colleague.

Stay Positive

Always remain positive when marketing via social media. People like to be around others and things that make them feel good. Bad mouthing others or making negative statements can lead to others viewing your product or service negatively. Be sure to keep this in mind on your personal page as well if you have one.

Always keep your cool when posting and replying on social media sites. There are people who will post on your social media pages with the intention of causing trouble. Maintain a professional attitude and just remove the posts. If they have a legitimate concern with your business, be respectful and always maintain a professional dialogue.

Demonstrate humility when posting on social media sites. No matter what the size of your company, if your posts come off as arrogant or boastful, your followers will let you know. Your customers and followers are what fuel your power, keep this in mind. Here are the cornerstones of success.

Have a End Goal in Mind

Have a list of goals you wish to achieve for a social media campaign. If you do not know what you hope to achieve with your campaign, you won't know when you have been successful. Are you looking for product awareness, concrete sales, or better customer service? When you can answer these questions, building a strategy is an easier step.

Be the Market Authority

To make your social media marketing campaign successfully market your brand, sell yourself as an industry authority. Instead of plugging your products, produce engaging content that entertains, educates and even inspires people. If you happen to create something that goes just a little viral due to the share button, your company name is getting out there.

In social media marketing anyone can become an expert. But, to do so you need to develop certain qualities. First, you must know your niche market inside and out. Also, you must be willing to be outspoken even if your comments and posts are somewhat controversial. So, if you are able to speak your mind freely in public and are willing to research your chosen niche, you can become an expert and succeed in your social media marketing efforts.

Have the Right Tools Available

To help your customers help you spread your content, make sure blog posts have the right buttons to get easily shared. You can add Facebook Like and Share buttons, as well as Linked share ability and the Retweet button for Twitter users. When you have engaging content your regular followers like, they will spread it around the internet, hopefully drawing more followers to you.

One of the advantages of social media marketing is that it allows others to advertise your products and services for you. To take full advantage of this, incorporate one-click links on your product and service web pages that enable visitors to like it on Facebook or tweet it on Twitter. It has been proven that recommendations made by friends are far more likely to convince potential customers to make purchases than most marketing tactics employed by businesses.

Create Sharable Post and Content

You can get your followers' attention by posting something in a format that makes reading easier. For instance, try coming with a list of top 10 tips or writing questions and answers. The visual aspect of your article will make it more appealing and your readers will be more likely to share it.

When you are using a blog for social media marketing, keep your readers interested. Keep your blog fresh with articles that educate your readers or inspire them in some way. Put effort into your blog, as it is the face of your business in that medium. The better your blog, the bigger your potential for success.

Always remember who your audience is in your social media marketing campaigns and what matters the most to them. You need to post content that is applicable to them and focus your efforts in ways that keep their attention. Your posts should be relevant and of high quality that your followers and fans do not just skip them over because they are not interested.

Do not post irrelevant and trivial posts on your social media profiles. Always keep your posts professional and relevant. No one cares that you got a new cell phone, or that you are standing in line at the movies. These trivial posts should be reserved for your own personal profile, not your business profile.

Know When to Post Updates

You should remain flexible with regard to the frequency with which your page is updated. If you have a new product coming out and plan on having a big advertising campaign, consumers will expect some sort of updates on a daily basis. However, if you are finding it troublesome to come up with good content to attract people, then you probably should update your status less frequently.

Time to Promote Discounts and Offers

Promote special offers via social networks. This will encourage your consumers to locate you on sites like Facebook, as they will look for the discounts you are offering there. Social media is a fantastic opportunity for customers to communicate with you and share your products and brands.

To help get your customers interested in your products, you should run promotions through social media marketing. Running promotions through this sort of marketing will keep your customers constantly informed of your products and also, keep your business on their minds. Social media promotions are a great way to spread the word about your business.

Leverage the Power of Video

Videos are a great content for your social media marketing. Demographics show that video is the largest and fastest growing online application. You can make your old articles and posts into video presentations using screen capture and presentation tools available on the web. Add them to your YouTube profile and link them to your social media pages.

YouTube has a huge and active user base and you need to be involved in it for successful social media marketing. Posting videos is a great way to get users involved, but you also have to be involved in the larger community as a whole. Posting comments and talking about other videos related to your industry will attract new users to your profile.

Have Consistent Branding

Branding your company is an essential facet of social media usage. Use the logo from your company for your profile picture. Keep the same color themes on all of your social media profiles. This will help your followers know and trust who they are following and listening to. Let branding work for you and remain consistent.

Be Fun and Humorous

Create humorous content when possible. Keep the humor appropriate, but use it when you can so that you can increase positive reader reaction. When people see unusual or humorous things on Facebook, it is likely they will share these things with their friends. You will get a lot of exposure this way.

Make Full Use of Holiday Seasons

The holidays may be a big time of the year, but don't use the opportunity in the wrong way. It isn't the best phase to test out new theories or gamble with a big risk. Stick to your proven guns and utilize them in a more customer-friendly manner. You will have all year to plan out a strategy for the next holiday season.

During specific holiday seasons, each social media site will have its own unique perks and rules that should be remembered. Find out how each platform differs from the other, and learn what competitors in your niche are preparing. Some basic holiday techniques can really give you the edge during those rushes and keep your profits rolling.

Have You Twitter Yet?

Twitter is a more demanding network because it requires constant communication with followers, but it is also the most recommended. Thank those that mention your name, and answer any questions they may have. This creates a stronger affiliation with all your followers. This will also help you to create a real identity, rather than just appear to be a screen name that sits behind a business.

Know Your Competitors Well

Monitor your competitors on social media sites. Spend a little time looking at what your top five competitors are doing out there in the social media world. Look at which social sites they are most active on, what kind of content they are publish, how many fans they have and how they promote their site and what they have to offer.

Know Where Your Audience Are

Find out where your customers are getting their social fix. You can leave yourself twisting in the wind if you start a social media campaign that reaches none of your target audience. You need to know if your customer base will be reading blogs, are tweeters or perhaps, they Facebook often. Research is the key to maximizing your efforts.

Do Not Under-estimate Power of Pictures

Try adding pictures to your social media site. People get a better understanding of a product when they can literally see it. And, when people understand your product, they are more likely to purchase it. You do not need to have too many pictures, just a few should do the job.

Whenever you post something on your blog or update your website, write a Facebook post right away. Perhaps you should plan ahead and write your post in advance so that you are not rushed to do it. Remember that people subscribed to your Facebook posts to be updated about what you are doing.

Poll is Your Social Media's Best Friend

Try using polls on your social media profiles to engage your customers and get them involved. People love to give their opinions and have their voice heard. A poll is a great way to get them to voice their opinions and give feedback on new products and ideas that are relevant to your company

With social media marketing, you will not have to worry all the time about how much money you are spending. Instead of focusing on losing your shirt, you can focus on posting exciting and informative content, including images, video and text. There are many social media websites that you can start utilizing. It is only a matter of time before you become established, and obtain a sizable and dedicated customer or reader base.

17 Personal Development Tips and Strategies that Actually Works

I have never taken any interest in personal development. I have always think it is a pure waste of time to pursue such useless activities.

Well, my point of view changed after I attended a personal development talk organized by my company. It was quite an interesting talk where the speaker showed us life-changing proof of people who have undergone personal development.

From there on, I begin to read up on personal development books, blogs and what not. After a few of intensive research, I was finally convinced that personal development is one of the many things I need to fulfill that many goals I have in life. :)

Below are some personal development tips which I hope will help many of you fulfill your personal development goals.

Hone Up Your Personal Skill

To improve on your personal skills, explore alternative forms of communication that you do not ordinarily use. If you usually rely on text messages, instant messaging, or email for a written word - try writing and mailing a handwritten note or card by snail mail. For a spoken word - use the telephone - instead of the help of a computer to communicate to someone and improve your one-on-one skills.

Keep the Positive Juice Flowing

Try working in multiple positives. Do your best to keep a positive attitude while you work or work out. You'd be surprised at how much you can accomplish by either changing your surroundings or thinking about a task differently. Try working outside, or possibly thinking of your tasks as a game and try to win at them. Try listening to something that can increase your intelligence while you work out.

Try your best to keep a positive attitude everyday. No matter how bleak things can sometime look or be, keeping positive can help you get through the bad times. You can also get so much more done when you have a positive outlook on the task or the outcome of the tasks.

Fast - Connect the Body and the Mind

For those looking to achieve personal development on a spiritual level, try a fast to connect to your body and your internal state of mind. This can help you conquer physical vices and bring you closer to your physical self. Assuming you have no health conditions (and be sure to have a doctor advise first), fasting is a great way to learn more about yourself.

Streamline the Body, Mind and Soul

Your personal gauge should always be set to "optimize." In other words, imagine your whole self -- body, soul and mind as a singular, efficient machine. You'll be more likely to hit your target on the mark if you know the direction you're taking to get there is efficient and streamlines.

When trying to achieve goals and improve yourself, it is important to consider yourself holistically, which means, as a whole person. As a human being, you are made up of a physical body, as well as your mind. If your body is unhealthy, ailing or stressed, your mind is likely to be corrupted and unhealthy, as well. By pursuing fitness and physical health, you contribute to your mental happiness.

An Additional Inch a Day

Work just a little harder just a little longer. By just investing a little bit of extra effort we can achieve our goals more quickly and assuredly. Once one goal is achieved the slate is cleaned so that we can tackle the next one. We often get back from life precisely what we put in. Hard work spells bigger rewards.

Make Enjoyment a Priority

When you are trying to improve a new skill, start a new diet, or even a new course, it is important to try and make it something you enjoy. If you are constantly dreading the new part of your life, you will quickly lose motivation and find ways to give yourself excuses.

Get Rid of Procrastination

Do not wait on a challenge, begin it immediately! Procrastination is the antithesis to personal development. Pushing a task one day paves the way to pushing it off another and another. Tackle your obstacle with urgency and you will give yourself a sense of power that will otherwise escape you.

There is no time for excuses in personal development. Stop excuses at the door, and nip any laziness in the bud. One bad move can lead to a long-term bad habit, so preventing laziness before it starts is really just saving you future work. Personal development is about being your best at all times, so practice what you want to achieve.

Prioritize your time. If you put off doing something that you really want to do or enjoy doing so that you can take care of something that could have waited, you could find yourself full of regret by the end of the week. This may take some time to really incorporate into your life, but you will be happy that you did.

Learn to Trust Yourself

Learn to trust in yourself. If you can find a way to believe in yourself, you are sure to find more success in your life. If you know and believe in the potential that you have to succeed in life, you will find it easier to meet the goals that you have set for yourself.

Accept Humility

Humility is a key factor in personal development. Realizing that you are but a small part of the bigger picture will potentially open your mind to attaining new insights. You will make dramatic progress in your self improvement once you accept that you still have a lot to learn and become eager to experience all the new things you can.

Keep a Priority Task List

Prioritize what you need to do daily. It's important to keep a list of what you want to accomplish for the day. Even if you find it hard to get most of the things on your list done, you will be happy knowing you did get some of your list completed.

Mingle with Positive Clan of People

Keep yourself around positive people. Being around people that are positive can be contagious and will change you way of thinking. It is a bad idea for someone that is depressed to be around those who think negative. It can worsen their depression and cause more negative thinking, which is exactly what you don't want to do.

Expand Your Social Circle

Everyone needs friends. They might not know exactly how to help you in every instance, but sometimes just being there is what counts the most. True friends and long-term relationships will be there for you no matter what happens. They are essential to your well-being so view them as precious and make sure you continue to nurture them.

Dealing with Emotion

If you are thinking about going down the path of self-help dealing with your anger or emotional problems, you must stay focused on your goal of being more relaxed. Often, events will happen that make you want to snap, but you need to stay focused and look past the brief enjoyment of emotion.

Never Call it Quit

No matter what your ultimate goal in personal development is, don't give up. You will face setbacks. You will face roadblocks. You will face days where it seems that you'll never reach your goal. As long as you continue to work toward your goal your chances of success remain high.

Celebrate Little Successes

Celebrate your successes as you work through your personal development plan to keep you engaged and excited about the process. Do not focus so much on the end result that you fail to recognize the steps you take to get there. Personal development and growth can sometimes be difficult, and acknowledging the small successes along the way keeps you motivated.

Be Responsible for Your Life

Take responsibility. Don't make excuses - take responsibility if something goes wrong. That way, you put yourself in the position to correct or change things. Taking responsibility has great benefits: you can assess a situation and take the steps to alter things that aren't contributing to your personal success. Also, don't forget to take credit for the good things that happen in your life!

Sleep More

An important aspect of personal development is learning how to successfully cope with stress. One of the best ways to help deal with stress is to make sure that you are sleeping properly every night. Sleeping is healing and therapeutic for your body. During sleep your body recovers from the stresses of the past day and prepares itself for the next day. To improve the way your body reacts to stress it is vital that you get a good night's sleep.
