15 Ways to Help Control and Get Rid of Acne Outbreaks

Not sure if it is due to the recent work stress or food that I consumed, small patches of acne have begin to populate the once clear and smooth face of mine. :(

Panicked and worried as I were, I visited and consulted a skin care specialist in a nearby beauty saloon and as always, I did some research online and after trying out some of the tips and methods given, the acne condition on my face improved quite a bit.

So without much ado, I shall share whatever tips and tricks that I found and I hope they can be of some help to readers who are also plagued by acne problem.

Tea Tree Oil

As recommended by the beauty specialist, tea tree oil can be an effective treatment to apply to trouble areas to get a clearer complexion. A natural astringent, tea tree oil will not dry out your skin.

Extreme Changes of Temperature

Extreme temperatures can also cause acne. When conditions are hot, you are likely to sweat a great deal. Sweating can clog pores and irritate skin. This sometimes results in acne. Colder weather can also negatively effect your skin by drying it out. Both should be avoided if you can help it.

Stress

I was wrong, my breakout was not caused by stress. Although stress can't cause acne, but it can increase the severity of the problem in people who already suffer from the condition.

Actually, in my opinion, the less stressed you are, the easier it will be to handle your acne problems. Prolonged stress will cause the production of hormones, which cause both health and skin problems. Making your acne easier to control is just one of the benefits of stress reduction. Exercising, meditating, or just decompressing with a little relaxing music can help you stay stress-free. Stress can cause acne flare ups, so make sure to keep your stress levels under control.

Natural Skin Care Product

Great advice from my beauty specialist - if acne is plaguing your face and body, start using natural skin care products. Many commercially prepared skin care products contain harsh, irritating ingredients that can exacerbate skin problems. This results in more acne due to blocked pores. Your skin can be healed by natural products because they have antibacterial elements within them.

Using skin care products that contain only natural ingredients are especially important if you're acne prone. Chemicals can irritate your skin even more. Your face needs a certain amount of oil to remain healthy. Many chemical laden products strip all the oils off of your skin. If you scrub off all of this oil, your skin will produce too much in an effort to replace it, and this will worsen acne.

Zinc Supplement

If you have acne, zinc can help you to prevent free radicals from damaging your skin. You can treat cystic acne with a zinc supplement. You can take the supplement one time each day and treat your acne internally rather than topically.

Swimming Helps

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise. Indoor or outdoor, try to find a pool you can use. Swimming gives an overall, balanced workout which can relax you. This in turn can reduce acne problems. Chlorine in the pool can also help to clean out your acne infections, further reducing the problem.

Good physical fitness is a fantastic way to treat your acne problem. Exercising helps increase your blood circulation, which in turn, helps distribute oxygen and nutrients to the rest of your body. It also helps remove toxins that are dispersed throughout your body. Exercise is necessary for keeping your body clean, healthy and strong to prevent and fight acne. This can relieve stress, which is especially important because stress can lead to acne.

Watch your Diet

Cure your acne from the inside out with a diet that is rich in fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats and other non-oily sources of protein. By drinking good, pure water your skin will detoxify itself. Also, get a moderate amount of sunshine every day. About 10 minutes is enough.

Make-ups

Blemish sticks are great to cover any blemishes, pimples, and spots on your skin. This allows for precise covering of the spots that you need hidden. Blemish sticks are less likely to block your pores than concealer.

Eliminate the use of oil-based makeups. Oil-based makeup can clog your pores. Additionally, acne problems can be caused by this type of makeup. Some products may say that they're oil-free, but in actuality are not really oil-free. These sorts of products are synthetics and can cause you to breakout.

What You Wear Matters

Choose apparel manufactured with natural fibers, and make sure the clothing is suitable for the weather conditions. Especially hot, cold or humid conditions can cause outbreaks in some people. Certain synthetic fibers can also worsen acne as a result of trapped heat. Being overheated can stress your body and worsen acne breakouts. You can reduce stress caused by temperature by wearing the right clothes.

Have You Been Drinking Water?

It's important to drink sufficient water throughout the day to help keep your skin clear. A minimum of eight cups of water are needed by the body each day, and it may need even more than that. Becoming dehydrated is problematic for your skin and other parts of your body. Dehydration makes acne problems worse because when the skin lacks moisture, dead skin cells remain on the skin. When the dead cells remain, they make acne worse.

Is Your Pillow Case or Linen Clean?

Avoid acne by using clean pillowcases each night. Take some time and ponder it. Just picture yourself resting your face on this every night. This can easily be avoided by simply replacing your dirty pillow case with a clean one before you go to bed.

Changing your linens on your bed can have amazing effects on your acne problems. As you are sleeping, these oils get onto your linens. The oil will go back to your skin the next time you sleep. To avoid this re-contamination process, launder your bedding often.

Teeth Whitening Product

Remove teeth whitening products from your regimen. If you experience acne breakouts in the mouth area, think about any treatments that are being used on your teeth. Whitening toothpaste, mouth wash and whitening strips sometimes aggravate acne. Treat this skin near your mouth very carefully, as it is sensitive and more prone to irritation and breakouts.

Garlic - What?

Garlic is an antioxidant, and antioxidants help fight acne. The antioxidants in garlic combat toxins in the body. Eat garlic with dinner or on a bagel to help with acne.

Strict Skincare Routine

To effectively battle acne blemishes, you must adopt a strict skincare routine. You need to make a commitment to your skin to make it as pristine as possible. Use a cleanser specifically chosen for your skin type to wash your face every morning and evening. If you wash too frequently, your glands may produce more oil. One of the most important steps you can take against acne is regular facial cleansing.

Never Do These Things

Do not tan or use sunbeds if you have acne. Direct exposure to sunlight or to a tanning light will worsen your acne. Sunbeds have UV light that has the same hazardous effects on acne like the sun does. It's simply not a good idea to tan if you have acne.

Avoid mixing any acne lotions. People think that mixing different acne treatments together will make them all work faster. It is not a good idea to use different treatments at once, since they often include strong medicines that may interact and harm the skin's surface.

Your hands contain dirt and oils, so whenever possible avoid touching your face. Break yourself of unconsciously bringing your hand to your face, as well. Pimples are due to an inflammation of your skin. It's usually caused by dirt that has become trapped inside your skin's pores.

Never ever pick them. Picking at your acne, pimples or blemishes only leads to more breakouts, because you promote the spreading of the bacteria. If you pick the same spot often, you can wind up breaking the skin and once the spot heals you will be left with a scar.

My patches of acne are beginning to clear some implementing some of the above methods. If you are in the same shoe as me, try out some of the techniques I listed above, you can thank me later. :)
